Holiday Essentials

It’s that time of year again, SUMMER! As we all know the UK summer is dire and the lack of sun is inevitable. I’m lucky enough to be going on holiday to the beautiful island of Zakinthos so I thought I would show you some my holiday essentials. Obviously there are loads of items that I’d regard as essentials but here are a few of them that I could not be without. Enjoy!

First, and most importantly, sun cream. This is a must for a holiday to a hot country to protect your skin. I use two different SPFs, 30 and 15. I use SPF 30 for the majority of my holiday and then 15 towards the end. I’m lucky and don’t tend to burn but I always use an after sun to help my skin heal after sun exposure. I’m not one to sit in the sun all day and you will usually find me hiding in the shade reading a book, which leads us onto my second holiday essential.

Books! Who doesn’t love a good read. I find a holiday is the best chance to get a lot of reading done as I don’t really get much chance to. I have purchased 2 books for my holiday, My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella and All the Single Ladies by Jane Castillo. I LOVE Sophie Kinsella and always find myself reaching for her books. If you’re looking for an easy and captivating read I would definitely recommend her. I have never actually red any of Jane Costellos books but have been highly recommended them so thought I thought I’d give her books a go.

As I’m going abroad a bikini is a definite necessity. You cannot be sat around the pool in jeans can you? I usually take 5/6 bikinis if I’m away for 2 weeks.

I don’t tend to wear a lot of makeup while abroad, but I do love a bright lipstick. I’ve opted for NYX Liquid Suede in Orange County and Rimmel – Kate Moss Lasting Finish 37.  I also take a nice neutral colour with me for when I want to tone my lips down. I’m taking my trusty Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid in Nude Thrill. I also take a lip protection  for when my lips are exposed to the sun. I always use the Soltan Moisturising Suncare Stick with a SPF 30.  I apply this several times a day or when I can feel that the product has worn off. I suffer with sun blisters so this is a really important essential for my holiday.

Lastly, sunglasses. Too much sun hurts my eyes so I could not be without my trusty sunglasses. My sunglasses are prescription because my eyesight sucks. I don’t tend to wear my contact lenses when on holiday as the heat tends to dry them out, so I have no need for non prescriptions sunglasses.

    1. It is isn’t it 😊 I’ve only got 2 books with me which isn’t enough so I’ll have to see if anyone want to lend me one. I’ve never thought to bring a cooling mist with me, I always get so hot as well πŸ™ˆ xx
